In the beautiful historic centre of Lecce, surrounded by several old buildings, for sale an historic palace close to Porta S. Biagio, on the corner between two streets.
The building is composed of two adjacent houses, the first only having the ground floor, the second with two floors and a basement. The whole façade has been built with ashlars and local stone bricks. The building, protected by law, is provided by a building licence, granted by both the municipality of Lecce and the Monuments and Fine Arts Office.
The ground floor has an area of 350 sqm and has a 160 m2 back garden. On the front side of the building there are 3 rooms and a stairwell. Each of these rooms leads to other rooms, for a total of 14 rooms. One of the latter, however, is unfinished and located in the garden. The central entrance room leads to an airy basement with two windows. The whole building features a flat and two commercial premises. The 150 sqm flat on the first floor features 5 rooms, bathrooms and rooftop terraces for 190 sqm.
The building has vaulted ceilings:
- The basement is barrel-vaulted;
- The commercial premises have a flat ceiling built with girders and ashlars;
- The kitchen is barrel-vaulted;
- All the other rooms on the ground floor have limestone vaults
The building was built in the 16th century and has been modified over the centuries, as ceilings dating back to 17th and 18th centuries confirm. In the 17th century the upper floors were built, together with the Venetian windows on the first floor and the sloping wooden roof. In the garden there is a well featuring a “pietra leccese” limestone well-curb carved in the late-17th century. Some other elements were added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The thick interior walls were built during the first building works.
